Dental disease: not just a smelly mouth
Imagine this was your mouth. Can you imagine the pain this person goes through on a daily basis? Now imagine that this is the mouth of your pet. Unfortunately our pets cannot tell us if their mouth hurts and don't always show us signs of pain. Fortunately, periodontal disease can be prevented and managed with dental cleanings. This is done under anesthesia and the staff at Packerland Veterinary Center does everything we can to perform this in the safest way possible. The chart below is a nice summary of the different stages of periodontal disease that your pet could be experiencing. For comparison, the human mouth above is between Stage 2 and 3.
